Calamba City, Laguna – The Institute of Cooperatives and Bio-Enterprise Development (ICOPED) in partnership with the Calamba City Cooperative and Livelihood Development Department (CLDD) conducted a training on Credit Management among Calamba City-based cooperatives last June 14, 2017 at the Calamba Training Center II, Mercado de Calamba. The said training is one of the CDA-mandated trainings for officers of cooperatives engaged in savings and credit with at least PhP5 million worth of deposit liabilities based on their latest audited financial statement.
The training course aimed to develop the participants’ foundation of financial management concepts, enable them to understand the concept of credit management and lending objectives as well as managing credit risks. Specifically, the training course covers topics on concepts and principles of savings and credit, elements of credit and lending policy, and effective credit and lending processes. Ms. Arminga B. Peria and Ms. Alicia R. Quicoy, University Researchers of ICOPED, served as the resource persons. A total of 31 participants composed of cooperative officers and members attended and completed the training course. Sixteen (16) cooperatives were represented, namely, the Calamba City Employees Multipurpose Cooperative, Calamba Rice Growers Cooperative, Calamba Parish Development Cooperative, Calamba Multipurpose Cooperative, Likhang Kamay, San Cristobal Credit Cooperative, Edward Keller Multipurpose Cooperative, Calamba Sewers Producers Cooperative, Local Tourist Vendors Credit Cooperative, Calamba Bayside Multipurpose Cooperative, Solid Engtekkers Multipurpose Cooperative, Southern Global Services Multipurpose Cooperative, Couples for Christ Multipurpose Cooperative Laguna-1, Barangay Looc Producers Cooperative, and Calambenga Vendors Marketing Cooperative.
