Calamba City, Laguna – The Institute of Cooperatives and Bio-Enterprise Development (ICOPED) in partnership with the Calamba City Cooperative and Livelihood Development Department (CLDD) conducted a training on Risk Management among cooperatives based in Calamba City on June 8, 2017 at the Calamba Training Center II, Mercado de Calamba. The training is one of the three additional trainings for officers of cooperatives engaged in savings and credit with at least PhP5 million worth of deposit liabilities based on their latest audited Financial Statement as mandated through RA 9520 or the Philippine Cooperative Code of 2008.
The training course aims to equip cooperative officers with knowledge, skills, and attitudes on risk management to efficiently and effectively govern their respective cooperatives. Specifically, the training course aimed to develop the basic principles of risk management among participants, enable them to identify and understand the different types of risks, and educate them in preparing a risk management plan. The course covered topics on types of risks, assessing risks, principles of risk management, and risk management plan. Ms. Arminga B. Peria and Ms. Alicia R. Quicoy, University Researchers of ICOPED, served as the resource persons. Twenty (20) participants representing 13 cooperatives completed the training course. These are officers of San Cristobal Credit Cooperative, Couples for Christ Multipurpose Cooperative Laguna 1, Solid Engtekkers Multipurpose Cooperative, Barangay Looc Producers Cooperative, Edward Keller Multipurpose Cooperative, Calamba Sewer Producers Cooperative, Calamba Parish Development Cooperative, Calambenga Vendors Marketing Cooperative, Local Tourist Vendors Credit Cooperative, Calamba City Employees Multipurpose Cooperative, Calamba Rice Growers Cooperative, Calamba Bayside Multipurpose Cooperative, and Calamba Multipurpose Cooperative.
