Undergraduate COST Courses
ICOPED regularly offers undergraduate courses on cooperatives, which may be taken by any student - graduate or undergraduate level, enrolled in the University of the Philippines. Our Cooperative Studies or COST courses can be taken as electives, technical or cognate courses, or extra subjects of the students.
The COST courses range from the broad concept of collective action to the basic theories and principles of cooperatives and the practical applications of cooperative models and practices. These courses aim to raise awareness and knowledge on the "Cooperative Identity" and to promote the cooperative way of doing business and problem solving for socioeconomic and welfare development.
By taking the courses, students are expected to be equipped with knowledge and understanding of cooperative in relation to real-life situations and socioeconomic conditions and as development strategy or solution to real-life issues and challenges from the grassroots up to the policy level. The courses are also aimed at training students to become critical thinkers who are sensitive to societal issues and concerns and to become active contributors to inclusive growth and poverty reduction.
