ICOPED Trains Trainers of CDA Accredited Training Providers

​Los Baños, Laguna - The Institute of Cooperatives and Bio-Enterprise Development (ICOPED) conducted a 4-day Training of Trainers (TOT) for existing and prospective accredited training providers (ATPs) of the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) last August 22-25, 2017 at the ICOPED Auditorium, CEM, UPLB. The course aims to enhance and upgrade the knowledge, attitudes and skills of trainers in order for them to effectively and efficiently conduct trainings for cooperatives. The ICOPED is one of the training providers in Region IV that is authorized by CDA to conduct the TOT.

The training course consists of four modules: (1) Cooperative as a Tool for Development which discussed the nature and status of cooperatives in the Philippines and reviewed the importance of education and training as a principle of cooperatives; (2) Cooperative Training Skills and Techniques wherein the participants are guided through the preparation of session and module guides and discussed the skills needed by the trainer; (3) Training for Cooperative Development which focused on the components of a training cycle; and (4) Action Planning where trainers are guided in the formulation of the action plan for the implementation of cooperative training courses. The training course culminates in a micro-teaching activity where trainers applied what they have learned.

Domingo, University Extension Specialist, and Ms. Liezel S. Cruz, Assistant Professor from ICOPED, Dr. Mildred O. Moscoso, Assistant Professor, and Dr. Benjamina Paula G. Flor, Associate Professor from the College of Development Communication of the UPLB served as the resource persons for the training.

A total of twenty-nine (29) participants attended the training course. These are trainers from the UPLB Credit and Development Cooperative, ERDB Multipurpose Cooperative, Market Place Christian Church Transport and Multipurpose Cooperative, Silang Municipal Employees and Community Multipurpose Cooperative, TRESP Multipurpose Cooperative, Tayabas Community Multipurpose Cooperative, Government Employees of Tayabas Multipurpose Cooperative, City Cooperatives and Livelihood Development Office of Tanauan, Batangas, Tayabas, Quezon, Antipolo, Rizal, San Carlos, Pangasinan, and Biñan and Cabuyao, Laguna.
