CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

Themed "Cooperative Transformation in the Changing Global Economy," the 3rd International Conference on Cooperatives (ICOOP2018)  will highlight the cooperative responses to our dynamic and rapidly changing economies and societies driven by globalization, structural transformation, market and business innovation, institutional reforms and climate change, among others.

With the constantly and rapidly changing global economy, we need to actively search for effective and appropriate strategies that could drive the transformation of cooperatives into a more competitive, resilient and sustainable enterprise . This is an urgent call that we need to respond to if we want our movement to become a significant sector in the economy and contributor to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. A builder of sustainability that upholds the Co-operative Identity and is capable of overcoming the pressing social, economic, and environmental challenges is what we envision cooperatives to be.
 
Amid the dominant emerging trends that shape our economy, politics and society, our vision in the Blueprint for a Co-operative Decade and desire to bring our cooperatives into a higher frontier of development remain strong. Its realization will be a continuous process of cooperative transformation that will lead us to the path of becoming the (a) acknowledged leader in economic, social and environmental sustainability; (b) the model preferred by people; and (c) the fastest growing form of enterprise.

Submission of Abstracts

The ICOOP2018 Scientific Paper Committee welcomes abstract submissions for ICOOP2018 parallel sessions under the following sub-themes:

• Cooperatives’ role in and contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals;
• Innovations in the economics and management of cooperatives;
• Trade and market opportunities and prospects for cooperatives;
• Socio-demographic changes and its implications on cooperatives;
• Global and local efforts in cooperative education and professionalization of cooperative management; and
• Cooperative experiences, lessons learned and best practices.

Abstracts must be submitted to the Secretariat (thru email: [email protected]) not later than the extended deadline, 10 August 2018. 

Contributors must make sure that their submitted abstract has not been presented yet in any other conference and should follow the guidelines provided in the Abstract Submission Form.

All contributed abstracts will undergo a review process by the Scientific Paper Committee of ICOOP2018 after which, result of the review and notices of acceptance will be sent out on 15 August 2018. Contributors are allowed to submit and present more than one conference paper.

Submission of Organized Session Proposals

​Organizations or institutions are also welcome to submit a proposal to hold a one-hour organized session during ICOOP2018. Expression of interest to organize a session must be submitted to the Secretariat not later than the extended deadline, 10 August 2018 using the Organized Parallel Session Form. Please take note that the submitted proposal should include the individual abstracts of the papers to be presented in the organized session. 

All submitted proposals will be evaluated by ICOOP2018 Chairs and Coordinators. Evaluation result and notices of acceptance of the proposals will be announced on 15 August 2018.

ORGANIZED SESSION SUbmission Form

Submission of Full Papers

​Contributors whose abstracts have been accepted for presentation in the conference are encouraged to submit full paper of their study on or before 17 October 2018 to the Secretariat. The papers will be reviewed for possible publication in the special issue of the Journal of Economics, Management and Agricultural Development (JEMAD), a peer-reviewed journal of CEM, UPLB. Full paper format will follow JEMAD’s  guidelines for contributors, provided herein.

Depending on the number of paper submissions, a book may also be published. In the previous ICOOPs, we published peer-reviewed books as outputs of our conferences. The latest book, which is a compendium of the papers presented in the 2nd International Conference on Cooperatives (ICOOP2015) can be accessed here. 

In addition, the “ICOOP2018 Best Paper Award” shall be given to the paper presenter who has the most relevant and scholarly written paper presented during the conference.
