The Institute of Cooperatives and Bio-Enterprise Development (ICOPED) is one with the cooperative movement in celebrating the National Cooperative Month this October! The cooperative month celebration is pursuant to the Presidential Proclamation No. 493 Series of 2004 where all cooperatives are encouraged to initiate and participate in cooperative development activities. Supporting this year’s theme, “Makabagong Kooperatiba Para sa Kalikasan, Kapayapaan, Kaunlaran at Sang Katauhan” and its slogan, “Sa bawat henerasyon may progresibong rebolusyon; Rebolusyong Kooperatiba-Ngayon Na!,” ICOPED continues to promote and support cooperatives and their modernization by conducting its annual Youth Awareness Seminar on Cooperatives (YAS) and by hosting the Institute's triennial International Conference on Cooperatives (ICOOP), among others.
In terms of future activities, ICOPED will hold its 3rd International Conference on Cooperatives (ICOOP2018) on 15-16 November 2018 at the Development Academy of the Philippines Conference Center, Tagaytay City as part of its continuing cooperative development advocacy. With the theme, "Cooperative Transformation in the Changing Global Economy," which re-emphasizes the cooperative month’s theme of Makabagong Kooperatiba, ICOOP2018 aims to make significant impact on the national and global cooperative movement by promoting exchange of technical and practical knowledge and facilitating interactions among cooperators, cooperative advocates, development practitioners, academicians, researchers, and policymakers. More than 150 participants from different sectors locally and abroad are expected to join the conference. Some of the lined up activities of the conference are the plenary talks, paper presentations, demo-workshops and product and service exhibit. AMQuilloy
