Calamba City, Laguna – The Institute of Cooperatives and Bio-Enterprise Development (ICOPED), in partnership with the Calamba City Cooperatives and Livelihood Development Department (CLDD), conducted a Risk Management Training among Calamba-based cooperatives last August 31, 2017 at the Calamba Training Center II, Mercado de Calamba. The training is part of the second batch of mandatory trainings conducted by ICOPED with CLDD.
The training is one of the additional trainings mandated under the Philippine Cooperative Code of 2008 (RA 9520) for officers of those cooperatives engaged in savings and credit with at least PhP 5 million worth of deposit liabilities based on their latest audited financial statement. At the end of the training, the participants are equipped with the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary in managing risks and in effectively and efficiently governing their respective cooperatives. The course includes topics on the basic concepts, types, and principles of risk management, identification and assessment of risks, and preparing the risk management plan. Dr. JP Roma D. Domingo, University Extension Specialist, and Ms. Alicia R. Quicoy, University Researcher of ICOPED served as the resource persons for the said training. Sixteen (16) participants attended the training. These are the officers of San Roque Tulay Akbay sa Kaunlaran Cooperative, Mabato Coffee and HVC Agriculture Cooperative, Calamba Parish Development Cooperative, Calamba City Employees Multipurpose Cooperative, Calamba Multipurpose Cooperative, and the Philippine Auto Components Multipurpose Cooperative.
