COLLEGE, LAGUNA – Ms. Adriann M. Quilloy, a University Researcher of the Institute of Cooperatives and Bio-Enterprise Development (ICOPED), was awarded first place in the Best Paper and Best Presenter categories in the 1st CPAfAA International Conference on Education and Social Development held last October 10, 2017 at the College of Public Affairs and Development, University of the Philippines Los Baños.
Ms. Quilloy presented a paper entitled, “Unpacking the Role of Participatory Action Research on Youth Leadership for Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM) in Brgy. San Antonio Bay, Laguna, Philippines.” The presentation highlighted the youth-based risk assessment tool, developed and dubbed as #HUGOTLINES, used in capturing the perceptions, vulnerabilities, and capabilities of the youth in DRRM. The tool was also utilized in identifying youth-based DRRM activities. The study also emphasized the effectiveness of participatory action research in youth organizing.
