ICOPED Renews CDA Accreditation as Cooperative Training Provider

The Institute of Cooperatives and Bio-Enterprise Development (ICOPED) of the College of Economics and Management (CEM), University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB), has renewed its accreditation as a Cooperative Training Provider (CTPro) under the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA), reaffirming its standing as one of the country's foremost academic institutions in cooperative education and development.
The renewed accreditation, valid from May 6, 2026 to May 5, 2031, ensures continuity in ICOPED's ability to conduct and certify cooperative training programs in accordance with CDA standards for the next five years.

As an accredited CTPro, ICOPED is authorized to deliver a broad suite of cooperative training programs. Its CDA-prescribed courses include Fundamentals of Cooperatives, Governance and Management of Cooperatives, Financial Management, Basic Accounting for Non-Accountants, Credit Management, Strategic Planning, and Internal Control, core offerings that form the backbone of cooperative officer and staff development in the Philippines.

Beyond the prescribed curriculum, ICOPED also offers a wide range of specialized training courses tailored to the evolving needs of the cooperative sector. These include Business Planning for Cooperatives, Cooperative Enterprise Development, Business Continuity Planning, among others. The institute likewise accommodates client-requested skills training, making its programs responsive to the specific contexts and priorities of partner organizations.

ICOPED further conducts Training of Trainers (TOT) programs for organizations seeking or maintaining their own CDA accreditation as training providers, strengthening the wider cooperative training ecosystem beyond its own direct delivery. 

ICOPED has been actively expanding its training reach in recent years, having conducted programs in partnership with regional cooperative organizations, government agencies, and development foundations in various parts of Luzon and Mindanao. The institute's renewed accreditation positions it to continue and deepen these engagements in the coming years.
